Snap and Ponder: Sunset Cruise with P/Y Jokai 1 – Chasing Your Goals

Sunsets may signify the end of a long tiring day but mark a day full of achievement and productivity.

This week’s #SnapAndPonder describes a photo taken last October 23, 2016 while I was on P/Y Jokai 1 Yacht Cruise.

I was invited by a fellow yet an awesome blogger, theLittleLai, to come for chasing sunsets with Jokai Yacht Cruise along with other bloggers – Wanderlicious and D’yan ka lang. I was skeptical at first because I just arrived from my hometown, Iligan City, that morning and I have to prepare for the event that happened on that afternoon. Fortunately, I was able to cope up and had a great time!

While cruising, the skies were burning yet ironically undeniably stunning and jaw-dropping as the sun bid goodbye. Goodbyes may be sorrowful but this one is the contrast. Instead, you will feel grateful for the life and blessing you have and the things you have done for that day.

Were you able to do what you want to do and able to express yourself? Were you able to pursue your goal like you chase the sunset?

I came to ponder that the sun symbolizes your dreams and aspirations. They may fade away as Mr. Sun says goodbye but the courage and perseverance are always there to get through the night and hope for a brand new day on chasing another chance to reach them.

Why I’d bother to ask? Is it good to have these dreams and aspirations? Do I have to have goals? Goals may be short-term or long-term, but do I really have to have them?

I remember a quote from my college days as it says that “The best car in the world will not take you to the right place if you do not know where to go.” I may sound absurd but I find it to be true. I believe in goals because even though how expert you are yet you don’t have them, all the efforts and being genuine will be gone into waste. You might end up with the worse and that’s sad.

There may be times you get lost from the path to your ultimate goals – problems, challenges and unanswered questions in life. I know these are just spices to have a sweeter and fruitful celebration when you reach your goals.

I may be currently in limbo where I don’t know where to go, but I’m pretty sure rediscovering myself to the path I once wished upon when I was a kid.

Don’t get sad and frustrated, continue chasing sunsets and be motivated! 🙂

What about you? What are your goals and how do you chase them?

Words of gratitude to theLittleLai and Jokai Marine International, Inc. for the opportunity for a special chasing sunsets for this week’s #SnapAndPonder. And to Ma’am Jannette Clasen Amahit for the invite to theLittleLai who invited me also. 🙂

  • The goals and our dreams are what made us move ahead, these are what molded us before we can finally take our breath and said, yes I arrived. I like how you transmit your thoughts as your reflection to the sunset. This reminded me as well that behind the atmospheric effects of the sunlight as it slowly crawled to its home is a mark of a new hope that symbolizes of a new day that is about to come that brings a fresh memory.

  • maayo nimo mosuwat master oi! keep it up!

  • You’re comment is already a blog post. Hahah!! Ikaw na! Thank you for sharing your thoughts 🙂

  • Hahaha, seems a blog post yeah… but I am not doing any ponder series.. so I’ll just be spamming your comment box with my ponder moments instead hahahaha ✌️️✌️️✌️️

    • Haha keep it comin’ and please don’t forget to share!

      • Rea

Maikog man ta sa comment ni AJ! Pwede na pang blog series. LOL

  • Just like the sun, this post is very heart warming.

I also believe in goals. I think these make you feel fullfilled in life. Goals ignite you to move forward — instead of being stagnant.

But sometimes, things are easier said than done most especially when you don’t believe in yourself. 😉

Keep on believing in yourself John! And keep on inspiring others to believe in themselves so that while you work on your goals, you also encourage others to start with theirs.

Lastly, I have no doubt that you’ll reach whatever your goals are. Aja!!!!!!!!!

    • Tinuod btaw. It’s easier said than done. Pero aja! Hahaha! Char salamat eloys haha

  • Rea

I also believe in goals, dreams, and aspirations. I think all these give you a direction in life. Although we do not exactly have a hold of what’s to happen, at least we know what we want. I’ve already said before that sunsets make me dance (as much as sunrise does) but I sleep in most of the time until 12 nn and a sunset is more convenient to behold. LOL JK.

PS: Ka-nice sa life oi, nag yacht man! Laysho kaayo! 😀

    • Indeed, this gives direction to life. Hehe. Mata sayo ey para kakita ug sunrise hihu.

Wahaha! I was just invited by Lai para sa yacht. Kato maoy sosyal haha

  • I also like to chase a sunset since I have not eversince perfected a sunset shot and I guess you nailed it! This is inspiring 🙂 -nasuya ko. HAHA -Jay

    • Ohh wait patiently for your chance for a perfect shot! Hehe. Timing2x lang. thank you 🙂

  • I believe this is one of the perfect place to be if you want to have a best sunset nor sunrise shot! This is very inspiring as well! :)Thanks for this John

  • What a beautiful view to ponder about things in your life.

There are times when I just feel unproductive and I’ve been revising my schedule to see when I am most “ganado” to do writing work. There was one advice that really resonated with me and it was that your most important task for the day should be one that will make you feel truly accomplished if you only had that day left to live. 😀

    • Wow.. that advice.. it’s like live as if it is the last day of your life. Thanks Pam!

  • Talikod pose, takilid pose, shadow pose… name it! Hahaha. Good view sa sunset kaayo. The RK life is getting real. Good job, guys!

  • OT: Maikog ta.. https ang domain..hahaa
IT: Inyo ning gbayran ang yatcht? datoa ninyo gid

  • Did you ponder together with Lai? This post seems like a continuation of what he started. Hahahaha. Anyways, nice blog you got there 🙂

  • Our dreams and aspirations for me are guide on what you wanted to have or become but faith may turn around or brings out the plot twist that you’re not expecting. Still, let’s strive for the best and never be discourage with life’s challenges. Like sunsets, they always remind you how an ending can be beautiful, if you think you are not yet getting the beautiful ending..then that’s not your sunset yet. Hehe

  • Blagiiir pose kaayo oy!

Anyway, this is true. I also believe in goals no matter how long or short-term it is. We don’t have to always plan what we need to do, but it is good to know what we want. 🙂

    • Hahaha! Nangita rato ug piso sa yate.
Yeahh! Agree.. at least we have directions in life. Hehe

  • Wow! I’d probably be having the same kind of profound musings if I were at face with a view like that! Hahaha. But as for me, I don’t really have solid and laid-out action plans for the very near future. But I do have majors ones though, and I guess right now, I’m just kinda testing and seeing for myself which sort of personal tools would service me the best in my quest to achieve those goals. Heh.

  • When I was in high school, I always wanted to be an architect. That’s why I chose to study architecture in college. But now that I’m about to finish college, hopefully my last year, I just don’t see myself in that path anymore. I know that I should finish what I’ve started and all because “sayang ang nilakbay ko” study-wise. But when I think 10 years from now, what am I doing? I just don’t see myself being an architect. Right now, all I want to do is travel and hopefully be paid by just doing that. huhu so right now, I still don’t know what is my true goals, I still don’t know what to chase.

    • Bitaw sayang. But I guess, you can still travel while being an architect right? At the end of the day, it all depends on you. Whether you be happy of your chosen path or your destined path. 🙂 keep chasing 🙂

  • My goal is to make this world a better place. To inspire people that whatever circumstances they’ll encounter, there is no hindrance if you chase your goals with a heart.

    • Wow! I did not know you want to become the President of the universe Mika! Keep it up 🙂

  • Ah. Metaphors. I love how they work for literary pieces.

I believe you’ve read my essay about how I am still not sure what I want in life. Reading this made me more uncomfortable. I could not think of a goal I want to reach. Why isn’t there any in my mind? I’m beginning to worry I shouldn’t be here.

    I’m moving to Mars.

    • Oh I’m sorry for that. I hope someday, you’ll realize and get through the dark night and hold on until the sun shines and you’ll definitely be happy. 🙂

      • I will see it through but for now I just don’t know how. In time, I will definitely figure it out. 🙂

  • In general, sunsets remind me of our inner greatness as well as humanity’s inhumanity. My goal is to become the best version of myself, help people wake up, and meet a community of indigos because I feel very lonely.

  • Kat

“I may be currently in limbo where I don’t know where to go..” Same goes with me but I want to stay motivated and I don’t want to undergo to some recurring process like the one that I’m in: office work.

My greatest dream is to simply do what I am passionate about and earn from it. I am still finding what exactly that is but I’m pretty sure that blogging is an outlet to that.

Thanks for this inspiring post Chris and I super love your captures!

  • Nice yacht ! The last time I did a cruise was with bloggers as well and we had a grand time. I think more companies should offer these kind of services in the countries as we are comprised of thousands of islands that gives anyone countless of cruising possibilities.
